Discovery Inc. in a deal with a total enterprise value of approximately $82.7 billion ( equity value of $72.0 billion). The agreement, approved unanimously by the boards of directors of both companies, states that the acquisition includes Warner Bros.’ film and television studios, HBO Max, and HBO, but not Discovery. Greg Peters, co-CEO of Netflix, noted in the press release that the acquisition will position the company to reach a broader audience while scaling its business model in the decades ahead, ensuring customers have an optimal streaming service and improving the entertainment landscape, which will also benefit shareholders....

Disney has suspended its channels from YouTube TV, including ESPN, after the two companies failed to reach a new distribution deal by 11:59 p.m. ET on Oct. 30, 2025. YouTube TV announced the news in a blog post just over three hours before the deadline. The company said it had been negotiating with Disney “in good faith,” but accused the media giant of using “the threat of a blackout” to push for higher prices. Disney is “now following through on that threat,” YouTube TV wrote, calling the move to suspend their content one that “directly harms” subscribers while benefiting Disney’s own live TV offerings, such as Hulu + Live TV and Fubo. YouTube TV, whose parent company is Google, said it will offer subscribers a $20 credit if Disney’s channels remain unavailable for an extended period. On Oct. 23, YouTube TV said in its blog that Disney had proposed “costly economic terms that would raise prices on YouTube TV customers and give our customers fewer choices.” “With a $3 trillion...

Twitch CEO Dan Clancy is backtracking on his decision to include popular streamers Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed (Darren Jason Watkins Jr.) on the hypothetical Streamer Mount Rushmore. Clancy was first asked to name his “Mount Rushmore of streamers” during a Mafiathon 3 interview, Kai Cenat’s recent month-long 24-hour Twitch stream. Clancy listed Ninja, IShowSpeed, Pokimane, Kai Cenat, and CohhCarnage. However, in a video making the rounds on social media as of Monday, Oct. 13, 2025, Clancy admits he only included Cenat because he asked, suggesting neither Cenat nor IShowSpeed truly deserves a spot. “…It probably should be more historical. You know, in other words, Kai is big now, but arguably, it’s like he asked me, so I had to put him on there. But arguably it’s like ‘Look, you’re great, but you can’t be on the Mount Rushmore yet,’” Clancy said. I kind of gave up on everything that I had in my old life and just put everything on my stream. I streamed every day. I didn’t care about nothing else except Youtube streaming,” IShowSpeed said on the podcast. His mother initially had hesitations about streaming, even after his first viral clip garnered 30,000 views. She gave him an ultimatum: quit streaming or leave her home. With 2,000 subscribers at the time, he chose the latter and moved in with his father in Detroit, MI. “Once I start something, I’m not...
